García Villoria, Alberto
Alberto García is an associate professor in the Department of Management at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). As training, he is a computer engineer and holds a PhD in industrial engineering. His research focuses on the application of exact techniques (mathematical programming, branch-and-bound algorithms) and non-exact techniques (heuristics, metaheuristics, hyperheuristics, matheuristics) to solve real problems in the context of industrial organization: assembly line balancing problems, scheduling, design of microgrids, periodic maintenance of machinery and home health care, among others. Within this framework, he has participated in various public and private research projects and has published in some of the most prestigious journals on the subject (C&OR, EJOR, Energy, IJPR, JoH, JORS, JoS, etc.), as well as in international conferences.
